Feb. 15 (UPI) — The U.S. Division of Education said Wednesday that awards totaling extra than $18 million will enable the Augustus F. Hawkins Facilities For Excellence Plan strengthen teacher planning packages for academics of coloration.

The software is named for the 1st Black politician elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

It supports comprehensive, higher-quality teacher planning systems at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Tribally Controlled Faculties and Universities, and Minority Serving Establishments, in accordance to the Department of Education.
