To improve and keep more perfectly-prepared bilingual/multilingual academics of coloration, the College of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa School of Education was awarded a $1.6 million grant from the U.S. Office of Education’s Augustus F. Hawkins Facilities of Excellence Program.
Undertaking Equivalent Entry, under the direction of the university’s Office of Unique Schooling Professor and Chair Jenny Wells, aims to develop a a lot more numerous instructor workforce to provide students of color in rural and remote communities.

Grant actions will address 5 regions:
- Reduction of inequity and inadequacy in methods and options in instructing license plans
- Raise in the successful use of technological know-how, instructional techniques, and methods
- Planning of teacher candidates to design and supply instruction in methods that are participating and provide possibilities to feel critically and clear up advanced troubles, utilize discovering in genuine and genuine-earth options, and communicate and collaborate proficiently
