The American Affiliation of Schools for Instructor Education (AACTE) has named Dr. Monika Williams Shealey, Rowan University’s senior vice president for Variety, Fairness & Inclusion, chair of the organization’s board of administrators.

Shealey has held educational appointments at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Florida International University in Miami and the College of Missouri at Kansas Metropolis. She joined Rowan in 2013 as the first African American dean of the College or university of Training and, in 2019, President Ali Houshmand asked her to lead the University’s new Division of Variety, Fairness & Inclusion. The Division was the initial of its kind in the region and strives to be a model for systemic alter in better instruction that effects in equitable results for pupils, faculty and workers.
Shealey been given her B.S. and M.A. from the College of South Florida, her Ed.S. from the College of Miami, and her Ph.D. in training from the University of Central Florida. Her investigation has focused on the ordeals of minoritized teams in special training and on Black women of all ages in instructor training and leadership.
